Back in the Summer we had the pleasure of capturing Lorna and Rory’s relaxed day at Dovecote Events Barn! This was our first time at the venue, but we already can’t wait to return. We love any venue with a courtyard, beautiful grounds and a cocktail bar. This ticked off all three!
This wedding not only had the BEST dancefloor of the entire 2024 season (seriously, it was epic. Everyone was up on their feet, glow sticks in hand, singing their hearts out), some funky matching groomsmen socks AND a dog in attendance… but they also chose to do a first look!
First looks are super common in the US, where couples often do a reveal together and often photos too – all before they’ve even got married. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it, as it really maximises the time you then have to celebrate for the rest of the day. I totally understand wanting that walking down the aisle moment though and why that’s a common tradition here in England!
These two chose to have have a first look whilst guests were seated for their ceremony. Lorna walked to Rory with her dad, had a lovely reaction and then walked into their vows together! BIG fan of any couple that chooses to break traditions and make their day perfect for them.
These two were a total pleasure to work with, as were their guests who were all wonderful. The star of the show was of course their gorgeous dog Olive though, who joined in with the celebrations (and photos, as you’ll see!)
