Engagement Shoots
Okay, let’s talk about Pre Wedding Photography! An Engagement Shoot is the perfect way for me and my couples to get to know each other before their special day and something I would recommend to everyone! If you booked a full day wedding photography package since my pricing changed in September 2019, it’s likely one is included in your package (woohoo!). If not, though, I’m always up for getting one booked in at any time of year from just £100!
This October I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Jack and Leigh, ahead of their wedding in 2021! They are due an autumn wedding at the beautiful Aswarby Rectory in Lincolnshire and when they wanted to get a session booked in, I couldn’t wait! After throwing lots of ideas between us, we both knew it was ‘the one’ when we stumbled on the pumpkin patch idea. Shout out to Uncle Henry’s Pumpkin Patch in Gainsborough for having us before they opened – here are some favourites from their session alongside 5 reasons why you should book one too!
1. To Meet Me! (and check I’m good enough!)
-
I can tell you now – I love weddings and have a true passion for photography, but it’s important not just take my word for it. On an engagement shoot, you can find out so much more than what my website can show you. The way I work, my personality and my style. Engagement sessions give us the opportunity to meet and show you myself who I am and what I do!

2. To become more comfortable in front of the camera
One of the most common concerns I hear from brides is how camera-shy, ‘unattractive’ or self-conscious they are. The truth is, everyone has their insecurities and my job as your photographer is to help you love yourself a little more during the session. An engagements shoot is a way of showing you how amazing you both look together and puts your mind at ease for the big day. The feedback from both Jack and Leigh reflects this massively which is always music to my ears. It’s all good and well me saying I will make you feel at ease, but it’s important my couples say the same too…‘We have just received our engagement photo’s and I cannot recommend Sophie enough!! She is amazing. We were really nervous but she put us at ease right away. The photos are simply stunning and we cannot wait for two years time for your wedding photos.’3. To create amazing memories…
It’s true what they say about time flying as your wedding approaches. Having some time together, capturing your love for one another before the chaos of your day arrives is such a beautiful thing. It’s something to look back on for years to come. Plus, Leigh and her Maid of Honour made a day of etching the pumpkin ahead of their shoot – wedding duties and all!4. Save the Dates, Invitation and Social Media
If you are stuck for ideas on the design of your wedding stationery, one thing an engagement shoot is sure to provide is that! Keyrings, fridge magnets, postcards? 5 minutes on Pinterest and you will be flooded with inspiration on how to tell your family you’re tying the knot. Alternatively, chuck your favourite picture on the front page with your special date and you are good to go. Plus, photos give you a wonderful excuse to show your love off to the world, because we all love that sometimes. I cannot wait to see what they come up with for their save the dates!! #SaveTheDateGoals-
5. To chat all things wedding and all things YOU!
I love finding out everything I can about couples who choose me to capture their day. It’s such a special and important time, so it’s a major privilege for me. I keep in touch throughout the whole process from enquiry to booking, but nothing beats meeting in person. A pre-wedding shoot can bring our conversations to life. A booking consultation isn’t something I’ve ever offered, therefore all my packages now include an engagement session too. This is mostly to ensure we have meet up and have a good ol’ natter about your day. Whether it’s recommending suppliers, talking colour themes or just discussing your exciting plans – It’s the perfect time to do that.
Happy Halloween to you all and thank you again to Uncle Henry’s for having us! Shout out to Jack and Leigh for being an absolute dream to work with. I cannot wait for their wedding in2 years time! Of course, I’ll be sure to blog their special day then.If you are interested in an engagement session or just want to chat about your wedding day, get in touch! -
