TWO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
The decision on whether to have two photographers is always a tough one. In the past, I have always shot weddings solo. With my relaxed style, I love telling the story in a natural way and for the majority of the day, I’m more than comfortable to do so as a one man band. Having said this, though, over the past few months the demand for 2 photographers has increased massively with more and more reasons arising to book 2 friendly faces to capture your wedding.
I suppose I can say ‘due to popular demand’, I have now launched a new package – Confetti. My confetti package now allows you to book 2 awesome photographers in one all-inclusive deal, throwing in some extra prints against my other packages too. Here are some common reasons, questions and answers about having a second photographer on your day.
Groom Prep!
The most popular reason for adding a second photographer is to allow the groom and his men equal treatment in the morning! After all, it’s both of your weddings, yet typically only the bride gets the focus. I think the majority of grooms prefer it this way, but I always say not to forget when it comes to groom prep, it doesn’t have to be the typical adjusting of buttonholes and putting on ties. So many grooms say they don’t really fancy any getting ready photos and this is totally fine, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have pre-wedding photos chatting, greeting guests and a couple of fun groups. Whilst I’m with the ladies, a second photographer can be with the lads capturing everything as it happens.
More awesome moments captured!
With two photographers, even more angles are captured of your day (meaning there are fewer photo opportunities missed!) Expect more photos like the below, filled with pure joy. I adore these more candid, natural shots because they really tell a story. When you look through your gallery it’s moments like this that will crack a smile and provide a happy memory because they show family and friendship.
The Ultimate Ceremony Coverage
When it comes to your ceremony pictures, it’s typical I, as the photographer, have to make a decision. Do I capture your day from the front of the room, or the back? Lighting does come into this, but 95% of the time, I choose the front. This allows me to capture a combination of you and your guests, the ring exchange, kiss and moments of laughter. Especially because the majority of your ceremony involves your back to the back of the room.
This always works for me, however what if you want your groom’s reaction centrally on camera? Or a shot of you walking arm in arm down the aisle to your new life partner? This is when a second photographer can be the perfect addition to your day, to capture another angle that I otherwise could miss. The only exception for this is typically outdoor ceremonies (my favourite) or church weddings with awesome ceremonies where they let me walk around wherever I need to get the perfect shot.
Will I be able to tell the difference in the images?
This can often be a worry and a common question when people enquire about second photographers. Will the images be of the same quality? Will the style be the same? Won’t they stick out like a sore thumb in my gallery? The answer is no! My second photographer is my Husband, Kyle. We work in the same way, we use the same camera, high-quality lens and I edit all photos myself. This ensures your gallery is consistent and beautiful throughout, with the same colours, tones, and quality you see across my portfolio. The only difference will be the number of awesome moments captured!
But won’t it be double the price of just you?
Definitely not! The great thing about having a second photographer is the stress is often off their shoulders. They are there to spot those precious moments throughout the entire day, whilst the pressure to capture the entire day to complete perfection is still down to me! The editing, post-production, engagement session and regular communication are also all on me which creates the 1 photographer package price.
Because of this, the price isn’t double, but only a fraction of my full day fee. You can have just me for £950, but the 2 of us for only £25o more. My 2 photographer package also throws in some extra prints making it even more value for money!
You can find all pricing information on my Packages page. This breaks down what you get for what investment which, alongside this blog post, can help you decide what is right for you.
